Ciri2 ny:
  • using general noun
  • relating verbs(is,am,are)
  • in present tense
Recount text
Comnunicative purpose: to retell past event
Generic structure:
  1. ORIENTATION: the background of information needed to understand the text (who, where, when)
  2. SERIES OF EVENTS:  ordered in a chronological sequence.
  3. RESOLUTION: personal comment.
Ciri2 ny:  using simple past tense, specific participants
Procedure text
Purpose: to tell how to make something or to tell how to do something.
Structure:
  1. Goal
  2. Materials
  3. Steps
Ciri2 ny: using imperative,     mainly action verbs,     using first, then ,when, etc.
Report text
Purpose: to describe the way things are.
Structure:
  1. General classification/definition
  2. Description features.
Ciri2ny: using action verbs.   Usually timeless.   Generalized participants… etc..
Spoof
Purpose:  to retell events for the purpose of entertaining.
Structure:
  1. Orientation: provides the setting and introduces the participant
  2. Events : tell what happened, in what sequences
  3. Twist : ending of an events
News items
Purpose: to inform the readers, listeners, or viewers about events of the day.
Structure:
  1. News worthy event: recount the event in the summary form
  2. Background event: elaborate what happened, to whom, in what circumstances
  3. Sources: comments by participants in, witness to and authorities expert on the event.
Ciri2ny: using material process ,..          using present and sometimes past tense.
Descriptive
Purpose: to describe particular thing.
Structure:
  1. Identification
  2. Description
Ciri2ny: using present tense.    Has no ending… using action verbs
Analytical exposition
Purpose: to analyze a topic and to persuade the readers that  the opinion is correct by developing and arguments
Structure:
  1. Thesis statement
  2. Arguments
  3. Reiteration
Ciri2ny:  use simple present tense… focus on generic human…
Narrative
Purpose: to amuse the readers
Structure:
  1. Orientation
  2. Complication
  3. Sequence of events
  4. Resolution
  5. Coda
